Movies in the Cinema | Spring 2015

Hello!

source 1/2/3/4
"feel the magic as you're watching a Disney movie on the laptop, but the cinema brings out something quite different."

They say movies are perfect for the fall and winter, snuggling up with a blanket and enjoying a flick or two. Although it's now Spring, the weather's not that much better and let's be honest, a movie is good anytime of the year!

It may feel like I've totally been living under a rock when it comes to new movies, but passing the Cinderella exhibition in Leicester Square last week reminded me that the new movie releases have not stopped since the Hunger Games Mockingjay came out!

Speaking of the Hunger Games, a similar style of movie has hit the big screen. Insurgent, the next movie in the Divergent series, is currently in cinemas.
Although I was a fan of Divergent, see that post here, I had no intention to see Insurgent any time soon. Whether that be because I'd rather see The Fast and Furious 7, or because I may have just completely forgotten that even Divergent existed. Yet, watching the trailer and seeing Theo James... that may have just changed my mind!
IMDB Rating: 7/10

Fast & Furious 7
The only one of the F&F series that I really remember is the third. Ask me about 1,2,4,5 or 6 and I'll put my hands up - nope, I've got nothing to say. Either way, the whole thing about this being Paul Walkers legacy has gotten to me. Plus I want to see if it's a noticeable change when they switch from Paul to Cody!
IMDB Rating: 8.2/10

Cinderella
Bellatrix from Harry Potter, a.k.a. Helena Bonham Carter, is the fairy godmother! How wonderful! Any Disney movie is lovely to see in the big screen. You can definitely feel the magic as you're watching a Disney movie on the laptop, but the cinema brings out something quite different. Disneyland? That's a whole other level, but for now, the cinema shall do!
If you are in the London area, do pop by the exhibition in Leicester Square. I didn't get a chance to go inside, but it did look pretty promising! Oh, and we saw a cute little girl dressed up as cinderella going into the exhibition and it was adorable!
IMDB Rating: 7.6/10

All in all, the movies out at the moment definitely seem worth a watch. Although Divergent wasn't my first choice when I first started writing this post, I may be leaning more towards watching it now! (That's the effect of Theo James, my friend!)
What's the movie that's currently on your 'to-watch' list?

Chiquito - Dinner in Leicester Square

Hello!

"As soon as you go in, you notice the lively atmosphere, full of fun and good food!"

Last weekend I went to dinner with two of my lovely friends. The place we decided to go: Chiquito. Having it been my first time, I had high hopes for this famous place! It was super busy and I doubt we would have got in without a reservation. Hint: Make a Reservation!

"When in a Mexican restaurant, the starter to order is obviously Nachos!"

As soon as you go in, you notice the lively atmosphere, full of fun and good food! The first thing they do: give you popcorn! This is a smart idea as popcorn makes you thirsty, so you order lots of drinks! Not to worry - you have a wide range of thirst-quenchers to choose from!

When in a Mexican restaurant, the starter to order is obviously Nachos! They served lovely nachos that went down well. Note: they have very big chips!

In terms of drinks, I went with a piƱa colada - and it looked super yummy! Plus, the pineapple slice was a nice touch!

"they have a wide range from burgers to fajitas to burritos..."
For mains, they have a wide range from burgers to fajitas to burritos... you know, the usual mexican food! I went with the vegetarian quesadilla. It was good. I tried the vegetarian burrito and was not a huge fan. The filling of both the quesadilla and burrito was both basically the same, but the burrito had a lot more of it.

As for desserts, we chose the 'Mexican Mess' which was basically meringue with churros, brownie bits, ice cream, chocolate fudge sauce and strawberries in a bowl, topped with whipped cream (picture above)! It was a bit of everything and was scrumptious... definitely recommend

"Leicester Square, people playing musical instruments, the fountain going and the lights looking gorgeous "

The lovely thing about it was also the view. Sitting on the ledges on Leicester Square, people playing musical instruments, the fountain going and the lights looking gorgeous - it was the perfect setting. We also went to Yates, a club near chiquitos - which is also worth a visit if you go to the L. Square Chiquito's.

The Verdict: To me, chiquitos is like any other mexican restaurant. Nothing special or unique about it, yet a lovely place all the same.

Are you a fan of Mexican Food... or prefer another cuisine?

Day in the Life: Meeting Nick Clegg

Hello!

I haven't done this sort of post in a long time whereby I show you pictures I took in one day! Yes, I do Weekly Roundups but not really one of a single day! Last time I remember doing that was in the summer time.

Anyway, so I thought I'd tell you about how I spent the other day, it was quite fun and I took a few good pictures!

Okay, so I was going to the city due to an event I was attending where I met the DPM - aka. the Deputy Prime Minister: Nick Clegg.
When I first saw Nick Clegg, he was right next to me, smiled too, and I had no idea who he was. Then all of a sudden all the cameras turned to him and I was like what? Is that Nick Clegg?! And it was! I was too late to get a picture of him from the front but I got one from behind!

The place we were at was so grand - the Grand Old Duke of York had build it! There were chandeliers everywhere and the whole place was accented with gold paint - I'm pretty sure there was ACTUAL GOLD in the paint! Stunning!

Oh, and can you believe there was even chandeliers in the Bathroom! How fancy?!

I decided it was a must to take a selfie in the bathroom here, and I did!

After that, my friend and I went to roam the city - it was about 2pm and we'd left our homes at 8am, so we were a little hungry! We roamed to Leicester Square and decided to have lunch at Hagen Daz. - well it wasn't the healthiest lunch but lunch none-the-less!
I ordered an Apple Crumble Pie with Chocolate, Praline and Caramel Ice Cream - Yummers!

It was a great day out and was so much fun!

What did you do on your recent 'fun-day-out' and where did you go?
