Cool for the Summer, Tattoo, Poison + Wings | MUSIC MONDAY

Hello!

source, 1, 2, 3, 4
Well, Birdy has gone and done it again.
Every so often I feel there's like a sudden burst of great music released into the world. Obviously, this isn't the case and music is released in no particular order, but right now it definitely feels like there's been that burst! Additionally, you haven't seen a Music Monday for a while on BBXO (Read: Summer Playlist), so this post comes at a good time for us!

The Two Sides of Taylor Swift - Bad Blood Mashup | MUSIC

Hello!

source, source
"Heck, even the thought of it seems impossible"

We know that Taylor Swift can do no wrong. So when you're given two versions of Taylor Swift in one video, it's a bit overwhelming at first, but then you begin to love it! Bad Blood is an awesome song, with a pretty cool video (Karlie Kloss would like it made into a movie, and I agree!), so you'd never think of mashing it up with Never Getting Back Together. Heck, even the thought of it seems impossible.

Well, expect the unexpected because this mashup is done incredibly well! Credits to the 'editor' because it's actually pretty cool!

So tell me, what do you think? Is it too much T-Swift or can you agree it's a great mashup?

Playlist TOP 3: The Script, Pitch Perfect 2, Imagine Dragons | MUSIC

Hello!

source, source, source
"Every time I hear 'Daemons', it takes me somewhere else. Every. Single. Time."

Music is a way to escape, and it totally has the power to lift your mood (dance party in your room, anyone?). Although I have to admit that One Direction have the power, there are also other artist that have released some pretty good songs recently that you need to hear. Actually, one of them is not-so recent, but it's still a good one!

Do you remember the song 'Man Who Can't be Moved'? I was obsessed with it, and after hearing this song on The Voice, I was sold. Bought to you by The Script, it's 'Man on a Wire'. Okay, the title sounds similar to the previous hit single they had, but it's a great song!

You may have heard the news that Pitch Perfect 2 is coming out very soon. I remember watching Pitch Perfect 1 - it was snowing outside and we got sent home early from school, so I came home, put on some snuggly clothes and fluffy socks (you got to have the fluffy socks) and played the movie. Totally a feel-good movie, an aspect I'm hoping will also be in the sequel!

Jessie J's song is from the movie, and it's made me even more excited to see it.

This is the 'old but good' song I mentioned earlier. Every time I hear 'Daemons', it takes me somewhere else. Every. Single. Time.

That's my top 3 - any recommendations? I have been looking for something like Daemons for a while, so if you know any good songs like that, it'd be great if you let me know!

Brainwavz Over-Ear Earphones | REVIEW

Hello!

"I did end up changing the tip of the earphone to better fit my needs."

Earphones. An interesting topic to chat to you about today, but one I'll address anyway. If you're anything like me, the whole thing about earphones/headphones doesn't phase me at all. I'll usually use the earphones that came with my phone. I've got the iPhone 6 and the earphones are pretty decent. If I'm looking for something that sticks more in the ear, if ya know what I mean, then I just steal my brothers earphones and he doesn't seem to mind (or he just doesn't know... whichever!).

Over-the-ear earphones were not ones that I had particularly thought about. There are the types that look a little like hearing aids that I've seen around, yet never felt the need for them - did I mention I wasn't too fussy? These, on the other hand, do the same job as the 'hearing-aid' ones but are little more flexible... care to read on?

"prevent that annoying headphone tangly thing that seems to happen EVERY TIME!"

One way that they're more flexible, is that they come with a bunch of accessories!

I must say, at first I didn't think they'd be much use as I'll just stick with the set that comes 'ready made', if you will. I was wrong. I did end up changing the tip of the earphone to better fit my needs. I like the ones which are foam, and not much of a fan of the flexible silicone ones which some may prefer. The thing with the foam is that it's less likely to fall out of my ear - trust me I did test it by jumping around everywhere (what better way to check, hey?!).

Another one of the 'accessories' is a case! The little case comes with tiny pockets inside which carry the extra spongey bits for you, and the little paperwork you never read but figure you might need one day! Plus, it's a great little thing to just pop into your bag and prevent that annoying headphone tangly thing that seems to happen EVERY TIME!

"You never know when you'll be in need of some pick-me-up tunes,"

Just to note: although they say they're over-the-ear earphones, I've been using them as normal straight-in-your-ear headphones and they seem just fine! In terms of the sound-quality, they sound pretty darn good. The first song I listened to with them had a bit of a base, and it sounded incredible through the earphones!

Plus, I think I prefer earphones more than headphones as they're a lot less bulky to travel with.

All in all, a great little thing to have with you. You never know when you'll be in need of some pick-me-up tunes, and these are great way to bring music to your ears (literally).

The Brainwavz S1, as they are called, is available on Amazon (LINK).

Tell me, are you more of an earphone or a headphones kind of person, or does it not make a difference?

Current Music Faves ft. Sam Smith, Taylor Swift + Daniel Duke | MUSIC

Hello!

"I was out and about with music in my ears, I noticed the song was super catchy and was thinking to myself: Who is the artist?"

We all need a refresh of the playlist every now and again, and when One Directions 'FOUR' get's a bit boring, it's time to hit the charts and see what's new.

Having said that, the charts at the moment are not-so-good. Yes, FourFiveSeconds is a good song, but of the new ones in the top 40, I was probably a fan of all about 3 of them. The songs mentioned here are actually in the charts, expect one of them. That one isn't even available in stores...

1. Sam Smith - Lay Me Down
This is in the title picture for a reason. The song is amazing. The thing about Sam Smith and his singing, is that you can almost feel the emotion as he opens that mouth of his! Through the headphones you are transformed into another world - and one which I would happily live in.

The minute I heard the song, I played it on repeat 3 times. If you know me, you know I rarely watch a movie twice, read the same book again or play a song on repeat (especially when it's the first time I've heard it). This? This was an exception. Other than the song 'Say Something' by Christina Aguilera and A Great Big World, which I played around 8 times in a row, this doesn't really happen to often. So, long story short: if you haven't heard this song yet, run over and put it on before continuing to read the rest of this post!

2. Taylor Swift - Style
I'm a big fan of T-Swift. She sings the kind of music I like, whether it be Love Story or Shake it Off - I'm a fan. Style? Style's a little bit different. I was out and about with music in my ears, I noticed the song was super catchy and was thinking to myself: Who is the artist? They're AMAZING! Next thing I know, it's good old Tay Tay. It's something quite different to what I'm used to with her, but it's a great song, nonetheless!

3. Hozier - Take Me to Church
When I first heard this song on the automated YouTube playlist thing (which, by the way, I think it's quite handy) I was totally loving it. I thought the emotion I felt through it was good, and it's like sort of rock/grunge vibe I do actually like. Being a pretty low key, not in-your-face song, it was right up my street! However, it was not one I instantly downloaded. Hearing it again on The Voice UK (covered by Clarke), I knew I had to have it in my playlist, and off I trot to download it.

It's such a great song, and I hope to be loving more songs by the same artist.

4. Daniel Duke - Gonna Be/500 Miles
Finally, the unexpected, not-in-the-charts song you'd probably never expect to see in a current favourite music post. The song that didn't get enough credit, in my opinion, and the artist that should have gotten through to the lives on The Voice UK. That's right, the artist was a contestant on The Voice UK this year, and he was on Sir Tom Jones team.

Tom didn't pick him from the knockouts, and I'm thoroughly disappointed. Tom had a great team - and there were about 4 of the 8 that I thought had great potential, and of the 8, he chose 3 that I think didn't do his team justice. This is all my opinion, but I think I'm just a bit annoyed by the fact than Daniel was let to go home.

Gonna Be/500 Miles was the song he sang on his first audition, and it was incredible! He has such a unique voice that he uses to recreate hit songs in a different way. Here's the YouTube link to his other performance of Shake it Off. The version he crafted was different to the original, but it still sounded awesome!

Although this post was not meant to be a huge ramble on about The Voice, it has been a show I've been loving recently. The songs they choose are the wonderful, and the amount of talent the contestants have is incredible to see.
All in all, these are the Top 4 songs I recommend you listen to, at least once, and possibly add to your playlist.

Tell me, what did you think of Daniel's performance? Like his spin on things, or do you think it's not for you?

One Direction FOUR: Music

Hello!

" songs you'd want to listen to when you're in the car on a rainy day and looking out the window as though you're in a movie"

With a new year (I'm probably going to start every post in January with that opening!), new music is called for. Is it really? No, probably not, but what can go wrong - other than being totally addicted to it and having to listen to it 24/7!

Well, I've never really been a huge, die-hard fan of 1D, until now. Literally, the most recent album, Four, has been on repeat. After listening to the Four album playlist on YouTube about a million times, I decided it was time to add it to the iTunes playlist - and I never looked back!

My top 3 favourites from the album are: "Fool's Gold", "Night Changes" and "Ready to Run". Special mention to "18" too.
*Click on the titles to be directed to a download link.

The album is great because it's quite relaxing. Like, it has the type of songs you'd want to listen to when you're in the car on a rainy day and looking out the window as though you're in a movie - catch my drift?

So, if you're looking for a couple of songs to add to your playlist, don't let any stereotype of 1D stop you. Their music is great and that's all that matters!

Tell me, are you a 1D fan? If so, what's your favourite song?

Playlist Update: ft. The Script & Meghan Trainor

Hello!

"currently number 1 on the charts - listen and see why everyone loves it"

With a new season, a new month and quite possibly new food, it'd be disastrous to not include new music into our lives! Checking out the charts and listening to the songs to my hearts content, these are two pieces you might want to youtube search!

"these are two pieces you might want to youtube search!"
1 | 2
The Script: Superheroes
The Man Who Can't Be Moved was the song for me a while back, from the oh-so-famous 'The Script'. I must say, I was longing for them to release another epic track and it finally has arrived. Take a peak yourself:

Meghan Trainor: All About That Bass
Not going to lie, I thought this would be another 'Nicki Minaj' thing going on here, but she's definitely not another Nicki and definitely a Meghan. It's like there's Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift and I guess a bit of Nicki thrown in to make one Meghan Trainor. The lyrics behind the song are great and it's currently number 1 on the charts - listen and see why everyone loves it:

Music Monday: Happy Little Pill

Hello!

Knowing that this hasn't been a consistent series on BBXO, it is making a comeback today: Music Monday. Why, you may ask? Because I was craving to hear this song today, and I would be a horrible blogger if I didn't share it with you!
"However cliché this may sound: it has grown on me."
Troye Sivan, the man behind TRXYE, is a YouTube hit sensation! Having seen him at Summer in the City last year, it's weird to think he now has an album. This song is the first song of 5, it's the first one I heard and at the time, was not in love with it.

However cliché this may sound: it has grown on me.

What do you think of Happy Little Pill?

Summer 2014 - New Music Releases!

Hello!

You may remember there was a time when music was a regular topic on BBXO, and then there was a break from it. Here we are again with another music post, though I can't promise you it will be a regular topic! haha! But here we go:

So the first new release I was super excited about was Cheryl Coles new song:

Next is called Me and My Broken Heart

This one reminds me of the style that used to be huge, think Justin Timberlake.

Finally: WASTED!

The meaning behind the song is not the (only) reason the song is good - it's the tune! :P

What's your favourite new release?

More Music!

Hello!

Well, my playlist needed an update and although I downloaded a couple of songs earlier this month - which you guys seemed to love, especially 'Summer' by Calvin Harris! However, I hadn't bought myself to delete all the old songs from my playlist as I thought I'd still listen to them, yet coming to putting music on I found I tended to skip those songs anyway. Therefore, they were a waste of space and new ones were downloaded to replace them!

Ten Feet Tall - AfroJack

This song I didn't have high hopes for but I love it!

Empire - Shakira

You may have heard this one! Shakira looks really pretty, as usual!

5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS)

In general, this band has been a new find and I love their songs! They may seem like the typical 1D boy band copy but oh well! Plus, they kind of remind me of the Jonas Brothers days! Oh the memories!

Only Love Can Hurt Like This - Paloma Faith

Paloma is not a usual on my playlist but this song is really good! I had heard it before and not loved it - but it's definitely grown on me!

Well, that's another 4 songs for this month - have you heard Ten Feet Tall? What do you think of it?

Music of the Moment

Hello!

Right now certain songs have literally been on repeat for hours on my iTunes - so, of course you had to hear them! Although it hasn't been far too long that you've seen a playlist type of post on BerryBloomXO, yet I couldn't resist!

1. Say Something - Christina Aguilera, A Great Big World

This song was covered by this years US X Factor winners, Alex & Sierra, which is where I first heard it. A couple of weeks later I came across the song on YouTube and had it on replay for about 2 hours straight! For the record, I am still not sick of it! A song that will never get old and a must listen to!

2.  If - Luke Conard

Another YouTube find, Luke Conard is a YouTube musician and this is one of the many great songs he has on his channel. If you watch the Music Video, you'll see it's not just another 'boyfriend/girlfriend' song, but about another special lady in his life. It's so lovely and again I can listen to it on repeat (but not quite as much as 'Say Something'! Haha!).

3. What Now - Rihanna

She's back. RiRi has been off my playlists for a while now but this song has bought her back! I feel she has evolved to a different perspective again and this song is definitely one you could fall in love with. At first I thought it was a little iffy, but it has definitely grown on me!

That's it! My fav songs of the moment!
Are you as addicted to 'Say Something' as I am, or is something else on repeat for you?

Music Favourites of Now

Music therapy has been used for years to enhance mood. So, listening to music is great! I thought I'd share with you some songs that I have recently downloaded or been listening to a lot:

1. Hey Brother - Avicii
I loved 'Wake Me Up' by Avicii and this newer song is great too!

2. The Monster - Eminem ft. Rihanna
Can Rihanna ever sing a bad song? Remember 'Love the Way You Lie' by them too? Oh and Shakira and Rihanna are set to release a song too, cannot wait!

3. Let Me Go - Gary Barlow
After watching The X Factor when Gary Barlow and Sir Elton John did a collaboration, I thought that Gary Barlows' song is really good!

Thats my top three! What is your favourite song of now?! Leave a comment!

Hello!!

It's Friday, Friday, gonna get down on Fridayyyyyyy!! Well, technically it's Monday. Anyway, I'm sure you recognise that song, if not, where have you been?!
Anyway, so Miss Rebecca Black got famous for her song 'Friday' which has 60,000,000 + views! Crazy, right?!

Well, to prove to everyone that Rebecca has got talent, she released a new song…. yes, it's called Saturday and no it doesn't go like 'Saturday, Saturday, gonna get down on Saturdayyyy' - it's very different actually!
Check it out:

I don't think it's that bad - it proves the Rebecca has a good voice too! Maybe it's this years christmas party song.. and will be playing everywhere?! Well, it certainly won't beat 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer'!
What do you think, is it better than 'Friday'?

My Current Playlist Favs!

Hello!

I was just YouTube-ing some music - like if you go to the music section of YouTube there's a list of current top songs that you can listen to... so I was searching what to buy next! As always, the blog - A.K.A. you - are always on my mind, so I thought I'd blog about my current favourite songs that I LOVE listening to!

1. Jessie J - Wild (ft. Big Sean)

The video starts at like 50 seconds - the beginning is just walking for some reason? haha! This song is quite upbeat and makes me want to dance. Right now I am sitting in my living room writing this post (duh) with headphones in my ears and as soon as this song came on my feet started to move! Want your head bopping up and down? Listen to this song!

2. John Newman - Love Me Again

This song is AMAZING! You will want to sing this song at the top of your voice - trust me! Such a good road trip song! Especially if you're going to the beach or somewhere, you'll want this blasting in your car! Oh, and don't forget your air guitar ;)

3. Lorde - Royals

This girls voice is different yet so good! This is the song you'll be singing with your girlfriends at the next sleepover, you know, with your hairbrush microphones and everything! haha! Can you believe this girl is only 16?! Amazing.

Well, that's my roundup for my summer playlist! Listen to the beach or chilling at the park - your choice! ;)
